The first thing I did was correct my lighting and coloring. How I did this was to adjust my curves. Then de saturate the color. Under Edit, you’ll find Fade De saturate. I select it, then select multiply in this case. Then use the opacity sliders to adjust it till it looks right. Sometimes I don’t de sat, sometimes I select screen or overlay or just head straight to hue/sat and color adjust there.
In this step I highlighted part of the character, her legs, arms, parts of her face….To do this, I used a large pixel airbrush (soft feathery edged one) and stroked along her body where highlights would be. Than I gaussian blurred it by 8 or 12. Depends on size of image and where the highlights were.
In this step I painted in the clothe. See my clothe tutorial as well for instruction here.
Here I painted in the hair. If you used a hair model, you can use the same techniques on it as I did on the body. Highlight certain sections.
Finally I painted in shadows using an airbrush, again the ones that have the blurred, fleathery edges. I used various sizes, depending on where I was putting the shadow and the depth it needed. If you find this helpful, let me know. If you don’t, tell me so I can work on this.
One note I’d like to make is that this tutorial does not cover correcting collapsed joints or such. I will be adding a tutorial on this very soon.
